UltraCell is Volac’s registered strain of live probiotic yeast, specifically selected for use in dairy nutrition, supporting the rumen's natural function.

UltraCell is a zootechnical feed additive (4b1871) containing Saccharomyces cerevisiae NCYC R404.

UltraCell helps stabilise the rumen environment to enable the rumen flora to function more efficiently.

Not all yeasts are the same. Unlike most available yeasts, which are by-products of the brewing and baking industries, UltraCell has been registered to increase milk production in dairy cows and trials have shown UltraCell to increase milk yield by an average of 2.7kg/cow/day, with no compromises to fat or protein yield.

The Challenge

The rumen functions best in a stable environment.  Changes to the animal's external environment and routine can cause internal rumen instability due to temperature, water content, pH and flora population fluctuations.

The Solution

UltraCell helps stabilise the rumen environment to enable the rumen flora to function more efficiently.

UltraCell is a live yeast that has been screened and selected for its ability to control several metabolic pathways, it can scavenge oxygen, is able to metabolise lactic acid, stimulates fibre degrading bacteria and can also degrade Zearalenone in the rumen. UltraCell has also been selected for its ability to support milk production in ruminants.

In trials cows fed TMR with the addition of UltraCell had a significantly higher mean milk yield (average 2.7kg/head/day), without compromising fat or protein yield.
