All feed samples are analysed using specifically-developed and accredited ultra-high performance liquid chromatography mass spectrometry (UHPLC-MS/MS) methods. Using state-of-the-art technology allows us to accurately measure very low levels of mycotoxins in a single method, saving time, resources and cost.

Limits of detection for each mycotoxin are as follows:

Mycotoxin LOD / µg/kg
Deoxynivalenol 4
Zearalenone 4
Fumonisin B1 and B2 20
T2 Toxin 4
HT2 Toxin 10
Aflatoxin B1, B2, G1 and G2 1
Ochratoxin A 4
Diacetoxyscirpenol 4

Isotopically Labelled Internal Standards

Although UHPLC-MS/MS analysis is a very powerful analytical technique, it is susceptible to an effect known as matrix interference. Signals from a mass spectrometer can be supressed (or enhanced) by the sample material, yielding inaccurate results.

Rather than using one internal standard per group of toxins, Mycocheck uses carbon 13 versions of every mycotoxin as reference standards for every analysis. Using these standards allows the matrix effect to be corrected and accurate results achieved for each toxin, across the whole range of different feed materials.

Reporting

The concentration of each mycotoxin is reported in a simple to understand report, corrected to a dry matter content of 88%. An example certificate of results can be viewed below.
